Two specimens, one male and one female, were found with corresponding data matching the original description and a small label reading “Type” that was added by the NHM. The original description referenced four specimens but only one male. We here designate the male specimen as the lectotype and female specimen as the paralectotype. Labels for the designated male specimen read: “San Geronimo,/Vera Paz./Champion.” “B.C.A. Col. II. 1. / Carpophilus /veraepacis,/Sharp.” “Type”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Carpophilus veraepacis Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”; for the female: “S. Geronimo,/ Guatemala./Champion.” “B.C.A. Col.
