Orobainosoma hungaricum orientale Tabacaru, 1965 syn. nov.

Diagnosis. Differs from the other congeners, except H. flavescens , by the presence of the distal notch of the posterior lamella. From H. flavescens , it differs by 1) the number of body segments (28 in H. hungarica vs. mainly 30 in H. flavescens ), 2) the shape and size of the posterior lamella (larger with proximal protrusion in H. hungarica vs. smaller without proximal protrusion in H. flavescens ), 3) mesal process (distal margin with several teeth, without an isolated branch in H. hungarica vs. distal margin densely denticulated with an isolated posterior branch in H. flavescens ).

Type material examined: Orobainosoma hungaricum Verh. syntypes: ♂ slide preparation ( ZSM-A 20032154) incudes anterior and posterior gonopods, leg-pair 10, “Abaliget” ; ♂ slide preparation ( ZSM-A 20032160) includes anterior and posterior gonopods, head, leg-pairs 1, 5–7, 10–12, “Abaliget” ; ♂ slide preparation ( ZSM-A 20032161) includes anterior and posterior gonopods, leg-pairs 7, 10–12, “Abaliget” .

Slovenia: forest near Šalovci, Goričko (present study).

Type locality. Abaliget Cave , Hungary .

Comments. Tabacaru (1965) described the subspecies Orobainosoma hungaricum orientale Tabacaru, 1965 based on specimens he obtained from numerous caves in Banat and Oltenia in Romania. These populations exhibited a few minor differences with the nominal species as well as between each other, especially in the number of teeth on mesal process and the structure of the posterior lamella. Tabacaru (1985) stated that posterior lamella in some of the specimens can be rounded but also with a distal notch as in the nominal taxon. Further, he stated that in some caves, there are specimens with partly bilobed posterior lamella, rounded on mesal side and with a distal notch on lateral side. The remote distribution of this population (on the easternmost point of the distribution range of the species) might add further grounds to justify the good species. It could be also possible that this taxon is still in a stage of allopatric speciation. However, the drawings and the description provided by Tabacaru (1965) point to only variable characters even within the same cave. Therefore, Orobainosoma hungaricum orientale is here considered as a junior subjective synonym of Haasea hungarica .

Attems (1895: 193) recorded specimens of this species from near Graz as Craspedosoma flavescens .

Also, Attems misidentified Haasea specimens from St. Gotthard an der Raab (= Szentgotthárd) in Hungary as “ Orobainosoma flavescens ( Latzel, 1884) ”. Attems (1949: 129; 1954: 311) stated Orobainosoma flavescens or O. f. flavescens for West Hungary, but it remains unclear if he referred to that material or he followed Latzel’s (1884) quotation of Craspedosoma flavescens in West Hungary (which is also dubious, see under H. flavescens ).

In his description of Atractosoma phyllophagum Attems, 1899 , Attems (1899: 315) stated: “St. Gotthard in Ungarn, ganz nahe der steirischeu Grenze” as type locality of the species, clearly indicating it was collected in Hungary. Among the syntypes of this species, now Ochogona phyllophaga ( Attems, 1899) , one male of Haasea hun- garica was found, providing a clear evidence that both species are sympatrically occurring in western Hungary.

The species is new for the faunas of Austria, Serbia and Slovenia.
