Diagnosis. Differs from other congeners by the presence of a robust semicircular posterior lamella; an elongated, sword-like mesal process directed posteriad; a long acuminate posterior lateral process directed posteriad and slightly curved upwards; a short anterior lateral process bent proximad and positioned distally; the absence of mesodistal lobe.

Type material examined: Orobainosoma cyanopidum Attems, 1903 : ♂ ( NHMW 9823), here designated as lectotype, “ Tyrol ”. Paralectotypes ( NHMW 3634): 1 ♀, 1 ♂ dissected in 4 pieces with gonopods mounted in 2 micro scopic preparations (one with anterior gonopods, posterior gonopods, body segment 7; one with gnathochilarium, leg pairs 1–7; 10–12), same data as lectotype. Other examined types: Orobainosoma noricum Verhoeff, 1913 : ♂ slide preparation ( ZSM-A 20032165), here designated as lectotype, includes anterior and posterior gonopods and several pair of legs, including pregonopodal legs, “St. Gilgen”, Austria., Paralectotypes: 2 ♀♀ ( ZMB 5494), “Salzkam- mergut”, Austria; slide preparation with ♂ anterior gonopods, posterior gonopods, lp 6–7, 10–12, ( ZMB 128451), “Hallstadt (dt)” [Hallstatt village on Lake Hallstatt’s western shore in Austria’s mountainous Salzkammergut region, J. Gruber pers. comm.].

Distribution ( Figs 38 View FIGURE 38 , 41 View FIGURE 41 ). Austria: St. Gilgen ( Verhoeff 1913, 1929b, 1930), St. Wolfgang (Verhoeff 1930), Gaisberg ( Spelda 1996), Ischl, Rettenbachtal ( Verhoeff 1913), Hallstatt ( Verhoeff 1913), Tressenstein ( Verhoeff 1913, 1929b), Dachstein (Verhoeff 1930), Lunz ( Gruber 2009); Kreilhof; Hollenstein an der Ybbs; Hammergraben (Weyer); Kleinreifling Krumau, Admont (present study). Germany: Bad Reichenhall, Zwieselalpe ( Verhoeff 1929a), Hirschwiese SE Wartsteinkopf, 6 km O Unken ( Reip et al. 2012), Königssee, Schönau ( Reip et al. 2012), Nusshof, 1 km NW Hintergern, 3 km N Berchtesgaden ( Reip et al. 2012)

Type locality. Tyrol (see comment below) .

Comments. After examining type material of both Haasea cyanopida ( Attems, 1903) and Orobainosoma noricum Verhoeff, 1913 , we came to the conclusion that the latter name is nothing but a junior subjective synonym of Haasea cyanopida since both described taxa present identical gonopods as described in the diagnosis.

Attems (1903: 128) states that the type locality of the species is “Tirol but the exact locality remains unknown and perhaps Grödnerthal” which translates to Gardena Valley located in the southern Tirol in Italy . However, this is probably wrong given the distribution of the species. The only logical explanation is that these individuals originate from the eastern part of North Tyrol, in Austria .

Though Attems (1949: 130) mentions Millstatt as one of the localities for this species, we found no trace of that Haasea material in NHMW collections to support that. Thus, this locality is not considered as part of the species distribution range.

Attems (1954: 311) misidentified one male from Pleschberg and specimens from Hammergraben as O. flavescens flavescens .

According to the ICZN 76.2: “The place of origin of the lectotype becomes the type locality of the nominal species-group taxon, despite any previously published statement of the type locality”. We adopt this here and for the rest of species for which lectotypes are newly designated.
