( Fig. 3A–G View FIGURE 3 A – G )

Measurements of holotype. Prodorsum: length 268, width 237, height 136, sensillus 30, prodorsal setae: interlamellar (in) 51, lamellar (le) 48, rostral (ro) 43; notogaster: length 576, width 434, height 444, notogastral setae: c 1 96, h 1 101, ps 1 76; genitoaggenital plate 126×96, anoadanal plate 240×111.

Measurements of paratype. Prodorsum: length 379, width 273, height 156; notogaster: length 667, width 515, height 475.

Description. Colour brown. Integumental surface punctuated.

Prodorsum without lateral carinae and posterior furrows. Sigillar fields weakly expressed. Sensilli short with club-like head, smooth. Prodorsal setae short (except vestigial exobothridial setae) needleform, smooth.

Notogaster with 19 pairs of rather short (c 1/ c 1 -d 1=0.6), needleform, flexible notogastral setae, additional setae in rows h and ps. Notogastral setae c 1 and c 2 remote from anterior notogastral border, setae c 2 more than setae c 1, setae c 3 near the border. Vestigial setae f 1 positioned between setae h 1 and ps 1. 3 pairs of lyrifissures ia, im and ip present.

Ventral region. Setae h of mentum considerably longer than distance between them. Formula of genital setae: 4+5: 0. Anoadanal plates with neotrichy of adanal setae; 3 pairs of anal setae and 5 pairs of adanal setae, 3 posterior adanal setae longer than 2 anterior setae; all setae flexible, attenuate, similar to notogastral setae.

Legs. Chaetome of legs of "complete type ". Setae d of femora I long and remote from anterior margin of article.

Material examined. Holotype and 2 paratypes are deposited at DATE from locus typicus: BOL-005, Bolivia, Santa Cruz, Amboró NP, 7.X.2009, GPS 17o49‘02”S, 64o41’35”W, 2452 m a.s.l., mountain cloudy forest, sifted leaf litter, leg. B. Greenway, 2 paratypes are deposited at ISB from the same locality, and 1 paratype is deposited at NHMG from the locality: BOL-009, Bolivia, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Amboró NP, 7.X.2009, GPS 17o49‘02”S, 64o41’35”W, 2452 m a.s.l., mountain cloudy forest, sifted leaf litter, leg. B. Greenway.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the locality of this species—Amboró National Park.

Comparison. The new species is similar to two Ecuadorian species Protophthiracarus paraminisetosus (Niedbała et Illig, 2007) and P. quasiminisetosus (Niedbała et Illig, 2007) ( Niedbała and Illig 2007b) by the needleshape, smooth setae and neotrichy of the notogastral and adanal setae. The new species is distinguishable by the longer setae of the body, with 19 pairs of notogastral setae (versus 21 pairs in P. quasiminisetosus and 20 pairs in P. paraminisetosus ).
