Amaurochrous dubius ( Palisot de Beauvois, 1805)
New state record: North Carolina: Craven Co.: Fairfield Harbour , wet deciduous woods, 11-13-V-1994, D. C. Marshall (1♂ UMMZ) . Texas: Nueces Co.: Port Aransas , 9-IV-1984, S. G. Wellso, det. D. A. Rider (1♀ MSUC) .
Distribution: United States: FL, LA, MS ( Lago & Testa 2000), NC, TX. (West Indies)
Comments: Apparently, this is a more southern form. Barber & Sailer (1953) indicated that they had examined specimens only from Cuba, Florida, and Louisiana (which was followed by Froeschner 1988). It appears that many early workers confused this species with Amaurochrous cinctipes or the next species, Amaurochrous magnus (see comments under those species). We have chosen to omit the older records of Amaurochrous dubius from more northern states.
