Comments: At the time of the Froeschner (1988) catalog, the status of the different U.S. forms within Thyanta was confused. Rider & Chapin (1992) determined that Thyanta custator is composed of two subspecies - the nominate subspecies occurs along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, whereas Thyanta custator accerra occurs throughout the rest of the U.S., except it is replaced by Thyanta pallidovirens in the western U.S. This form was listed in Froeschner (1988) as Thyanta accerra and also the records for Thyanta pallidovirens spinosa Ruckes refer to this form. Additionally, most records of Thyanta perditor from the desert southwestern states should be referred here. The Idaho record for this species should be referred to Thyanta pallidovirens .
