Cyptocephala Berg, 1883 View in CoL View at ENA
Our North American species of this genus were traditionally treated as members of the genus Thyanta , but Rolston & McDonald (1984) recognized that they were generically distinct and transferred them to Cyptocephala . The members of this neotropical genus tend to be somewhat smaller than most Thyanta species , and there are several morphological differences. Rolston (1986) revised the genus, including a key to the species. Cyptocephala , at present, contains six species, three of which have been recorded in the southern parts of the United States.
