As mentioned above, all of the members of this genus occur only in the Old World, save one ( Agonoscelis puberula Stål ), which has been accidentally introduced into North America and the West Indies ( Thomas et al. 2003). Agonoscelis presently contains 21 species, most of which are African in distribution. There are, however, several species occuring in the Indian, Oriental, Southeast Asian, and Australian regions.
