Neottiglossa cavifrons Stål, 1872
New state record: Tennessee: Shelby Co.: 15-V-1946, B. Summerville, det. J. E. McPherson 1974 (1♂ MSUC) .
Distribution: United States: AL ( Rider 1990), AR, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA ( Ruckes 1957c, Rider 1990), MO, MS ( Rider 1990), NC, OK ( Arnold & Drew 1988, Rider 1990), TN, TX, VA.
Comments: Early records of this species from British Columbia, California, Oregon, and Utah are misidentifications of Neottiglossa tumidifrons ; the records from Arizona ( Torre-Bueno 1939 b, Thomas & Werner 1981) are probably also misidentifications, but are probably not Neottiglossa tumidifrons . Froeschner (1988) also listed Neottiglossa coronaciliata Ruckes as a separate species; it was placed as a synonym of Neottiglossa cavifrons ( Rider, 1990) .
