Zicrona americana Thomas, 1992

Distribution: Canada: BC. United States: AK, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS ( Packauskas 2012), NM, TX, UT. ( Mexico)

Comments: This species was described after the Froeschner (1988) catalog. When Thomas (1992) described this species, it was thought that it was confined to western North America (which still appears to be true), and the following species was only known from eastern North America (and the Old World). With the subsequent discovery of specimens of Zicrona caerulea from the Pacific Northwest, it has now become difficult to verify old records from that region. Old records from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Oregon, or Washington may apply to either species.
