Mecidea longula Stål, 1854b

Distribution: United States: FL. (West Indies)

Comments: See above notes. After the work of Ruckes (1946b) and Sailer (1952), it was believed that this species only occurred in the West Indies. Eger & Dobbs (2010) first recorded Mecidea longula from southern Florida. They reported numerous specimens from various collecting dates, providing strong evidence that this species is established in Florida.
