Comments: McPherson et al. (1993) recorded the subspecies Oebalus pugnax torridus (Sailer) (recently elevated to species) from Georgia; this is undoubtedly a misdetemination, as this taxon is only known from Central America ( Costa Rica and Nicaragua) and northern South America ( Colombia). This species, commonly called the rice stink bug, was also recorded from Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Virginia in an unpublished thesis ( Simons 1969).
