Euschistus Dallas, 1851 View in CoL View at ENA
This is a relatively speciose genus with the majority of species occurring in the Neotropics. The genus Euschistus has been divided into several subgenera, some of which may eventually be elevated to full genus status; all of our included species belong in the nominate subgenus. There is no modern key that includes all of the species occurring in North America. Torre-Bueno (1939b) provided a key to the North American species, but this is now outdated; McPherson (1982) and Rider (2012) provided keys to species from northeastern North America, and from the Dakotas, respectively. Rolston (1974) reviewed the species occurring in ‘Middle America,’ and then later (1985) provided a review of the species occurring in South America.
