Brachyodynerus Blüthgen, 1938 is a Palaearctic genus that includes nine species from East and South Europe, North Africa, Western and Central Asia (van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Kurzenko 1981; Gusenleitner 2013a); one species, Brachyodynerus perrarus Kurzenko, 1977 was described from China (west of Inner Mongolia). Representatives of the genus differ from other related genera of the tribe Odynerini (sensu Hermes et al. 2014) by the extremely large tegula that is rounded posteriorly and coarsely sculpted, and by their propodeal valvula having a noticeable spine-like upper lobe. Species of this genus are small but usually brightly colored wasps. The bionomics of the genus were previously unknown.
