Cryptophytes, endemic to mountain ranges of Buenos Aires province. Vulnerable, reasons unknown ( Delucchi 2006).
Characteristics. Perennial rhizomatous twining herb. Stems pubescent, ascendent, 40–80 cm high, angulate to bi-winged. Leaves pubescent, pinnately compound, with 3–5 linear-lanceolate to oblong pairs of leaflets, with a terminal tendril, split into 1–3 segments; petiole short; stipules semi-sagittate, with acute apex and a spur. Inflo- rescence: a raceme with 4–8 flowers, with blue-violet corolla and pubescent, dentate calyx. Fruit: a compressed linear legume with a recurved apex.
Comments. This is an infrequent species in the study area. It grows in intermediate and full sunlight on slopes and in grasslands in moderately deep, moist soils. This perennial species differs from other Vicia species by the presence of peduncle racemes with flowers smaller than 1.4 cm long, and pubescent leaves with 3–5 linearlanceolate to oblong pairs of leaflets.
