Range: —Disjunct in Andes of Venezuela and Ecuador to Bolivia (LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.

Ecology: —Uncommon; clearings, along roadsides; in humid forests; 1200–2450 m.

Notes: —In leaf architecture and size, most similar to S. lanosus , but that has much broader midvein scales and a thicker blade texture.
