Range: —Disjunct in Guyana, western Colombia, Ecuador, Peru (van der Werff 17622, UC), and Bolivia (CO, LP).

Ecology: —Rare; on road banks and landslides, in humid forests; 1950–2950 m.

Notes: —May be confused with S. rubiginosus , which has pseudostipules, proximate segments, naked sori, denser lanceolate scales on costae, and marginally dark bud scales.
