= Gleichenia lechleri Mett. ex Kuhn, Linnaea View in CoL 36: 167. 1869.

= Gleichenia yungensis Rosenst., Repert. View in CoL Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 5: 228(–229). 1908.

Range: —Andes from Ecuador to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).

Ecology: —Common; in humid forests, along roadsides, and on river banks; (800) 1100–3300 m.

Notes: —May be confused with S. rubiginosus , which is of similar size and has similarly shaped branch scales, but S. lechleri has squamophores and unhardened branch scales with scattered, short cilia. Further, the branches are more broadly spreading, and somewhat arching in S. lechleri , whereas in S. rubiginosus they are straight. Variable, with specimens growing inside forests more slender and with denser midvein scales than those from sunny sites, where plants are stouter, with glabrous midveins and larger pseudostipules, and often conspicuously glaucous abaxially.
