Range:— Disjunct along the eastern Andean slope in southern Colombia, southern Ecuador to northern Peru, and northern Bolivia (LP).

Ecology:— Locally common; in disturbed forests, along roadsides, and along streams, often forming large, uniform colonies; 750–2500 m.
