Remarks

The familial diagnosis of Escherbothriidae Ruhnke, Caira, and Cox, 2015 , is emended to receive S. mariae and S. biacetabulatum n. comb. In the case of each of these species, the portion of the bothridium posterior to the anterior transverse loculi is undivided but associated with muscle fibers that do not contribute to the formation of septa and is therefore not fully facially loculated. The familial diagnosis is also modified to clarify that the anterior region of the bothridium of members of this family possess rows, rather than columns as previously stated, and the posterior region possesses columns, rather than rows as previously stated. It seems that the 2 terms, rows and columns, were reversed in the original diagnosis provided by Ruhnke et al. (2015).
