Diagnosis

Colonies arborescent. Radial corallites tubular, evenly sized or mixed sizes; coenosteum reticulate, simple spinules, variation depends on the degree of calcification of the colonies ( Wallace, 1999).

Most of the recent species occur exclusively subtidally ( Wallace, 1999). Only A. grandis is represented in the fossil record of Indonesia.
