Local name Man Kèswès (Sansundi).

Range D. b. carbonarius Biak, Supiori, Numfor, Yapen.

Status Resident. Obtained by six collectors and seen by nearly all visitors. Widespread and common in mature secondary woodland, selectively logged and primary forest; sea level to c. 350 m (KDB; Supiori).
