Diagnosis. The following unique characteristics allow species of the subgenus Chilicola s. str. to be differentiated from related subgenera: face slightly concave in lateral view [ Fig. 14I View FIGURE 14 A – J ; Chilicola (Chilioediscelis) has erroneously been reported to also have a concave face ( Michener 1995, 2000)], distal margin of clypeus curved around lateral margin of labrum ( Fig. 14B View FIGURE 14 A – J ), S6 of females with apical spine ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 A – K L), mesepisternum and S2 of males with dense pubescence ( Figs. 12D, 12H View FIGURE 12 A – K respectively), S7 of males with curved, apically oriented dorsal process ( Figs. 1–6 View FIGURE 1 A – I View FIGURE 2 A – G View FIGURE 3 A – I View FIGURE 4 A – I View FIGURE 5 A – G View FIGURE 6 A – I , 16B View FIGURE 16 A – G ), Chilicola s. str. and C. Chilicola s. str. displays the following plesiomorphies that differentiate it from C. Description.
