Diagnosis. This new species is well characterized by its slender body with peculiar coloration, elytra with five clear striae on disk and sides moderately subexplanate, temples somewhat angularly projecting externally behind eyes, abdominal laterosternites V and VI at least 5.0 × as long as wide and antennal grooves with minimal distance about 0.3 × as great as mentum wide. It can be easily identified among other subgeners after the above key to species. See also the above Diagnosis of Oniphenes bicoloratus sp. nov.

Etymology. The epithet is formed from the surname of Andrey L’vovich Lobanov, closer colleague of the first author of this monograph and one of the founder of the largest coleopteran website “Beetles ( Coleoptera ) and Coleopterists”, who passed away in 2020.

Description of holotype (male). Length of body with abdomen 3.0, length without abdomen1.7, width0.8, height 0.3 mm. Body moderately elongate, subparallel-sided; moderately convex dorsally and ventrally; subunicolorous reddish with more or less darkened base of head, distal half of elytra and apex of terminal abdominal segment; integument shining; head, pronotum and elytra without pubescence, sides of pronotum and elytra not ciliate, but along middle of basal edge with very short and dense microsetae, uncovered abdominal sclerites with fine and short, slightly conspicuous yellowish hairs; underside with moderately short and moderately sparse fine yellowish hairs.

Head and pronotum with punctures 1.5–2.0 × as coarse as eye facets, separated by 1.5–3.0 puncture diameters, interspaces between them completely smooth. Elytra with punctures somewhat coarser and sparsely arranged in longitudinal rows on bottom of weakly deepened one short prescutellar and five long striae on adsutural part, but remains of sixth stria traced and becoming confuse at sides; interstriae as wide as 4–6 puncture diameters and with irregular row of somewhat finer punctures and rather smooth. Exposed abdominal dorsal sclerites with punctures slightly finer and denser than those on head and pronotum, interspaces between punctures rather shining. Prosternum and metaventrite with finer, shallower punctures than those on head and pronotum, separated by about 2–3 puncture diameters on prosternum and 4–5 puncture diameters on metaventrite, and interspaces between punctures finely and densely microreticulate on prosternum and smoothed on metasternum. Abdominal ventrites with punctation as that on prosternum and becoming denser and coarser apically; interspaces between punctures smoothly microreticulate.

Head subflattened, with moderately large and finely faceted eyes located anteriorly from angularly projecting temples, anterior edge of frons truncate. Labrum extremely short (shortly exposed) and with widely rounded anterior edge. Mandibles stout and short, externally gently curved to narrow bidentate apices (without dilatation at base). Antennal grooves distinctly outlined and S-likely convergent and with minimal distance nearly less than 0.4 × as great as width of mentum. Mentum moderately wide and long, subtrapezoid to subpentagonal, slightly arcuately widening anteriorly, and with anterior lateral angles rounded and not projecting anteriorly. Pregenal process at hypostomal sinus moderately wide and slightly curved, subtruncate at apex and with rounded outer and inner angles. Terminal labial palpomere short, subcylindrical and slightly longer than wide, oblique at apex; terminal maxillary palpomere moderately long and subconical about 2.0 × as long as thick. Antennae with scape moderately swollen and about 2.0 × as long as thick, pedicel about 0.5 × as long as scape, antennomere 3 about 1.3 × as long as pedicel, following antennomeres 4 and 5 about 0.5 × as long antennomeres 3, club about 1.3 × as long as thick, antennomeres 10 and 11 consolidated and somewhat separated from antennomere 9, and with comparable widest antennomere 10.

Pronotum with slightly convex anterior edge; posterior edge subrectiliner at scutellum and with widely rounded posterior angles; sides gently sloping, all edges narrowly bordered. Scutellar shield subtriangular, about 1.5 × as wide as long, angular at apex. Elytra markedly longer than combined width (about 1.2 × as long as combined width), subparallel-sided along elytral sides and widely rounded at outer apical angles, leaving last three abdominal segments completely and apex of previous one exposed, sides steeply sloping to moderately explanate at edge. Abdominal laterosternites V and VI at least 5.0 × as long as wide. Three last abdominal tergites medially rather convex and weakly subdepressed at sides. Male pygidium about 1.4 × as wide as long, arcuately narrowing to subemarginate or subtruncate apex.

Prosternum medially convex and with process moderately narrow between procoxae, very strongly and arcuately widened at widely rounded apex, with maximum width comparable with that of antennal club. Distance between procoxae about 0.5 × as great as that between mesocoxae and about 2.0 × as great as that between metocoxae. Metaventrite with distinct discrimen nearly reaching anterior fifth. Metepisterna very narrow, at anterior end as wide as thickness of scape. Hypopygidium nearly 1.5 × as wide as long, subtruncate at apex.

Tibiae subtriangilar, protibia nearly as wide as antennal club and with preapical teeth moderately raised, meso-and metatibiae widely rounded to subangular at outer subapical angles, spurs comparatively long and rather stout; outer side of meso- and metatibiae with raised spines only along posterior edge. Femora rather wide and moderately short; profemur about 2.0 ×, meso- and metafemora 2.5-3.0 × as wide as corresponding tibiae. Protarsus nearly as wide as antennal pedicel, meso- and metatarsi somewhat narrower.

Anal sclerite well exposed, widely rounded to subangular at apex. Aedeagus moderately sclerotized and more than 1.5 × as long as wide; tegmen slightly arcuate at sides and widely rounded and subangulate at apex, without visible marginal setae; penis trunk slightly shorter than tegmen and with lobes of apical orifice not reaching apex of penis trunk. Inner sac with one pair of sclerites approached to each other and strongly curved in the proximal end.

Female. Differs from the male only in the slightly narrower protarsi, and also in the length and shape of sclerites of the last abdominal segment (pygidium and hypopygidium about 1.5 × as wide as long and nearly rectilinearly narrowing to rounded apex). Ovipositor moderately sclerotized; rather wide, inner and outer lobes of gonocoxites clearly isolated and outer lobe nearly 0.5 × as long as inner lobe; styli very short and slightly visible, with one comparatively thick and long apical seta and located at considerable distance from blunt apex.

Variations. Length of body with abdomen 2.8-3.2 mm.The females look like somewhat smaller than males.Some variability is observed in the coloration and sculpture of integument, particularly in expression of microsculpture on sclerites of the abdominal sclerites. One paratype has completely unicolorous body (although with transparent dark hind wings).

Distribution. QLD; beyond the type locality nearby Cairns, it is known from Cape Tribulation, Kuranda, Bellenden Ker and Laceys Creek.

Notes on bionomy. This new species collected in rainforest leaf and log litter and sticky seeds of Pisonia brunoiniana.
