Philcoxia minensis V.C.Souza & Giul. View in CoL in Taylor et al. (2000: 161).

Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Joaquim Felício, Serra do Cabral , 17 April 1981, L. Rossi et al. 1089 (holotype SPF190329 ! ; isotype K001097116 [digital image]!) [Image of isotype available at http://specimens.kew.org/herbarium/K001097116] . Fig. 2A–B View FIGURE 2 .

The isotype from K is cited here for the first time. Philcoxia minensis is characterized by its peltate leaves at or below the soil surface, helicoid inflorescence, and androecium composed of two stamens with monothecous anthers ( Souza & Giulietti 2009). The plants from the Rio Preto have the apex of the corolla lobes occasionally subserrate ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) and a yellowish corolla tube ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ), whereas those from the Serra do Cabral have the apex of corolla lobes entire and a lavender to purple corolla tube. In addition, the former flower especially during the wet season from November to April, whereas the latter flower throughout the year. Philcoxia minensis is assessed as Critically Endangered (CR) under the criteria B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii), with EOO = 22.9 km ² and AOO = 8 km ² (.kml file available at http://figshare. com/s/1c93932a772a11e5b97306ec4b8d1f61). It is known from only two locations and is under continual decline of suitable habitat due to eucalyptus and pine tree forestry, mining and fire ( Guimarães et al. 2014).
