Evagetes crassicornis View in CoL View at ENA species-group

Psammocharoides Móczár 1946: 114 View in CoL . Type species: Pompilus crassicornis Shuckard 1837 View in CoL , by original designation. Junior subjective synonym of Sophropompilus Howard, 1901 according to Móczár 1956: 8. Junior subjective synonym of Evagetes Lepeletier 1845 View in CoL according to Day 1979: 13.

Streptosella Dreisbach 1950: 570 . Type species: Streptosella michiganensis Dreisbach 1950 View in CoL , by original designation. Nomen nudum (type species is nomen nudum and can not be fixed). Unavailable name [Article 13.3 of the Code ( ICZN 1999)].

Streptosella Evans 1951: 310 . Type species: Streptosella steyskali Dreisbach 1950 View in CoL , by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Pompilus crassicornis Shuckard 1837 View in CoL ) according to Evans 1951: 311. Junior subjective synonym of Evagetes Lepeletier 1845 View in CoL according to Evans 1951: 310.

Carinevagetes Wolf 1970: 52 (as subgenus of Evagetes Lepeletier 1845 View in CoL ). Type species: Evagetes crassicornis crassicornis ( Shuckard 1837) View in CoL , by original designation. Junior subjective synonym of Evagetes Lepeletier 1845 View in CoL according to Day 1979: 13.

Diagnosis of males. The males are easily diagnosed by morphology of the sternum 8 (hypopygium), which has two basal more or less parallel carinae (Figs. 4, 6, 8). This is contrary to other species of Evagetes , which lacking such carinae.

Diagnosis of females. The females of the crassicornis species-group have three closed radio-medial (submarginal) cells, the labrum medially not emarginated distinctly, the spines of tarsal comb not flattened, the malar space no more than 0.5 pedicel width, the propodeum laterally lacking setae or with short white setae, and the posterior pronotal border weakly angulate.

Remarks. Although Streptosella was proposed by Dreisbach (1950), Evans (1951) validated it a year later and became the author of this name.

Wolf (1970) proposed four subgenera within Evagetes : Contemptevagetes Wolf 1970 , Carinevagetes Wolf 1970 , Evagetes Lepeletier 1845 , and Leuchimon Haupt 1930 , but later all of them were synonymized under Evagetes ( Wahis 1986) . Nevertheless it is possible to distinguish within the genus Evagetes several speciesgroups: dubius species-group, pectinipes species-group, crassicornis species-group, and siculus speciesgroup.
