Type material. Holotype ♂. BRAZIL: Piauí: BRASIL: PI, Oeiras. 200 m, 12.iv.1994, V.O. Becker Col / Col. Becker 92248/ USNM-Mimal: 2376/ St. Laurent diss.: 10-21-15:1/ DZ 32.730 / HOLOTYPE ♂ Micrallo minutus St Laurent and C. Mielke, 2016 [handwritten red label]/ (DZUP, examined).
Paratype. BRAZIL: Piauí: Data exactly as for holotype, USNM-Mimal: 2377, St. Laurent diss.: 10-21-15:2 , PARATYPE female Micrallo minutus St Laurent and C. Mielke, 2016 [yellow label] ( USNM) .
Additional material examined. (3 ♂, 1 ♀) BRAZIL: Piauí: Data exactly as for holotype and paratype, but one male with genitalia preparation No. 1812 ( VOB) .
Diagnosis. Micrallo minutus is one of the smallest Mimallonidae , and the only species in the family with a combination of a forewing length of less than 12 mm and silvery-gray ground color with a well-defined, straight postmedial line. The genitalia of Micrallo are unlike those of any other genus of Mimallonidae (see St Laurent and Mielke 2016), and the genitalia differences between this species and M. macro sp. n. newly described above, were provided in the diagnosis of the new species.
Distribution. This species is still only known from the type locality in Oeiras, Piauí, Brazil ( St Laurent and Mielke 2016).
Remarks. We report four additional specimens of this species, however they do not add information pertaining to distribution or phenology since they have exactly the same collecting information as the type series. One of these males deposited in VOB was dissected (genitalia prep. No. 1812, examined), and the genitalia preparation agrees with that of the holotype figured in St Laurent and Mielke (2016).
