HOLOTYPE: AMNH 330252 About AMNH , adult male, collected on Samarai Island , 10.36S, 150.39E (Times Atlas), Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea, on 5 July 1929, by Hannibal Hamlin on the Whitney South Sea Expedition. GoogleMaps
COMMENTS: Mayr and Rand , in the original description, cited the AMNH number of the holotype and listed their type series of nine specimens. The eight paratypes are: Doini Island, AMNH 295688–295691 About AMNH , three males, one female, 7 November–2 December 1920, J.T. Zimmer ; Samarai Island , AMNH 330253–330256 About AMNH , two males, two females, 5 July 1929, H. Hamlin .
Higgins et al. (2008:601) tentatively synonymized intermedia with sonoroides.
