Holotype: Description of male: total length of insect 3.238. Overall colour brown, with notum, pleura and pIpIV clearly darker than coxae and legs. Palpomere pV dark only at base.

Head (fig. 13): length 0.385, width 0.441. Interocular distance 0.014. Palpomere lengths: pI 0.046; pII 0.105; pIII 0.140; pIV 0.165 and pV 0.585. Palpal formula 1.2.3.4.5. Palpomere pV clearly longer than sum of lengths of all other palpomeres. Newstead’s spines implanted on basal part of pIII ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ). Flagellomere lengths: FIII 0.392; FIV 0.259; FV 0.263; FVI 0.249; FVII 0.235 and FVIII 0.221. Other segments missing ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). Mushroom-shaped ascoids on all segments ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ).

Thorax: Length 0.945. Coxae lengths: anterior 0.396, median 0.333, posterior 0.350. Femur lengths: anterior 1.138; median 1.278 e posterior 1.418. Tibiae lengths: anterior 1.855; median 1.901 and posterior 2.188. Median tarsomere lengths: TI 0.959; TII 0.525; TIII 0.315; TIV 0.193 and TV 0.130. Posterior tarsomere lengths: TI 1.005; TII 0.543; TIII 0.368; TIV 0.210 and TV 0.123. Anterior tarsi missing. Wing length 2.800, width 0.823. Principal alar distances: α (R2) 0.385; β (R2 + 3) 1.243; γ (R2+ 3 + 4) 0.228; δ 0.158 ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ).

Abdomen: Overall colour somewhat little paler than thorax, with papillae grouped on lateral margins of sternites 2–8. Total length 1.908. Terminalia ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) aedeagal apodeme simple and narrow, 0.207 long. Gonocoxite 0.298 long and 0.116 wide. Aspect simple with small tubercle inserted on distal inner surface, ornamented with four long spiniform bristles. Gonostylus bifurcate, spatulate spine implanted on internal midpoint of central trunk, narrowing towards apex. Rhomboid tubercle ornamented with small bristles present on inner basal part. Length 0.217 and width 0.070. Paramere long, narrowing towards the apex with bristles implanted on its upper surface: length 0.207. Lateral lobes 0.123 long and 0.028 wide. Cercus 0.119 long and 0.067 wide. Aedeagus with four projections.

Type locality. Brazil, Espírito Santo State, municipality of Rio Novo do Sul, Santo Antonio (20º51,661`S; 40º56,345`W; 150 masl) 24.IV.2007. Santos C. B. 24.III.2007.

Type material. Holotype male number 0 0 3. Deposited in Psychodidae collection of CEUMT-UFES.

Etymology. The specific adjective refers to the Brazilian State of Espírito Santo, in which the type specimen was collected.
