Description. Holotype female. Dorsal color. Head and antennal segments I to IV (apex of IV dark reddish) black with triangular yellow spot below each ocelli; pronotum black with the following areas yellow: anterolateral and posterolateral margins, posterior margin and transverse stripe at middle third of pronotal disk; scutellum black with yellow longitudinal stripe at middle third of scutellar disk; clavus and corium black with claval and corial veins, and costal and apical margin yellow; hemelytral membrane black; connexivum yellow; dorsal abdominal segments III to VI shiny yellow with lateral margin of each segment and posterior margin of segment VI black; segments VII to IX black. Ventral color. Including rostral segments, legs, anterior and posterior lobe of metathoracic peritreme, and genital plates black, with the external margin of propleura and pleural margins of abdominal sterna III to VII yellow.

Male. Unknown.

Measurements (mm). Length head 1.88, width across eyes 1.76, interocular space 0.96, interocellar space 0.36, preocular distance 0.96; length antennal segments I, 1.44, II, 2.16, III, 2.04, IV, 2.35. Length pronotum 2.04, width across frontal angles 1.44, width across humeral angles 4.00. Scutellar length 1.48, width 1.72. Total body length 12.76.

Type material. Holotype, female, PERU, Amazonas Dept., Chachapoyas, vic. Gocta Lodge, 1815m, 06°03’22.5’’S- 077°53’42.6’’W, 21-24-X-2012, leg. Joe E. Eger (UNALM).

Etymology. From the Latin nitens , shiny.

Distribution. Peru (Amazonas).

Diagnosis. Closely related to P. frontalis Brailovsky , the only previously known species of the genus.

In P. nitens sp. nov., the body length is shorter than 13 mm, the anterolateral margins of pronotum are yellow, and the dorsal and ventral surface lack blue metallic reflections. In P. frontalis Brailovsky (2002) the body length is longer than 15 mm, the anterolateral margins of pronotum are black, and the dorsal and ventral surface have blue metallic reflections.
