Material examined. Holotype. 3, Ecuador, Pinã–N, Canãn, 01-12.xii.1970, L. E. Piñacol ( MZUSP).

First flagellomere dark yellow, with dark brown area at apex; arista dark brown. One row of interfrontals inside frontal triangle; postocellars divergent; inner and outer verticals not observable; one row of setulae at lower margin of gena, no distinct vibrissa. Costal sections one to four: 43-30-20-7. R2+3 and R4+5 slightly concave; R4+5 and M1+2 rather divergent; M1+2 apex curved downward; r-m and dm-cu paralell, distant each other 2.8 as long as dm-cu. Abdomen ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22 – 24 ). Tergites and sternites dark brown, segment 5 lighter. Terminalia. Hypandrium wide basally ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 22 – 24 ). Comments. This is by far the darkest species known in the genus. The blackish markings in the pleural sclerites are shared with P. paganelliae , but this latter species is much lighter and there are obvious differences in the male terminalia.
