Type species: Laudakia tuberculata (Sauria: Agamidae ). Type locality: Nepal .
Redescription. FEMALE (based on 8 specimens from Laudakia tuberculata and 5 specimens from Paralaudakia himalayana ). Gnathosoma . Chelicerae 120–185 long; swollen cheliceral part 55–85 long, slender distal part about 65–100 long (slender cheliceral part always 1.1 longer than swollen part). Fixed cheliceral digit 10 long, with several tines. Setae dF and dG subequal in length, 30–40 long. Palpal tibia with additional seta in form of eupathidion. Tibial claw absent. Palpal tarsi with 4 setae. Subcapitular setae n absent. Peritremes about 100–130 long. Hypostome about 105−125 long, with flattened apex. Idiosoma 400–505 long and 735–855 wide. Dorsum with 10–16 pairs of slightly serrate setae, 15–20 long, situated anteriorly; 1 pair of flattened paddle-shaped setae, 60–80 long, situated medio-laterally and 2 pairs of dorso-median setae with barely discernible serration: dm1 25–55 long, dm2 35–60 long. Peripheral series represented by 9–16 pairs of paddle-shaped setae 120–140 long, most of them (6–13 pairs) situated ventrally, 3 pairs situated ventro-laterally. Eyes absent. Venter with smooth ventro-median setae vm1–vm3. Genital slit situated terminally. Genital series represented by smooth and spine-like setae g1–g4 situated ventrally. Setae g1 and g2 minute, 10–20 long; g3 and g4 conspicuous, 40–55 long. Pseudanal series represented by 6 pairs of setae ps1–ps6. Setae ps1 and ps2 spine-like, 5−10 long; setae ps3–ps6 slightly apically expanded with minute serration in apical part, 60−150 long. Legs chaetotaxy as in persicum group i.e. setae of trochanters I–IV (1–1–1–1), femora I–IV (3–1–1–1), genua I–IV (3–1–1–1), tibiae I–IV (5–3–3–3). In 2 specimens additional seta v”TiI present. All setae on each segment smooth, except for setae dFII–IV with barely discernible serration. Setation of tarsi I−IV as in group A: I 13 setae (ft, tc’, tc”, p’, p”, a’, a”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’, vs”) and solenidion ω1; II 8 setae (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’) and ω1; III and IV with 8 setae each (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’). Setae tc’ of legs II–IV and setae a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’, vs” of legs I–IV smooth.
MALE (based on description presented in Jack 1961, amended). Gnathosoma as in female, but hypostome with apex serrate at tip. Chelicerae about 100 long; swollen cheliceral part about 45 long, slender distal part about 55 long. Idiosoma 235 long and 300 wide. Dorsum with 6–8 pairs of antero-lateral slightly serrate setae, 20–30 long; 1 pair of slightly serrate longer setae situated postero-laterally, about 45 long; 1 pair of smooth and fine-pointed setae dm1, about 30 long; 4 pairs of flattened paddle-shaped peripheral setae, about 45 long, with minute serration at the apical part. Eyes present. Aedeagus about 110 long, directed forward. Genito-anal opening with 1 pair of filiform setae. Venter as in female. Legs I–IV as in female.
PROTONYMPH (based on original description from Jack 1961, modified). Gnathosoma as in female. Chelicerae about 120 long; slender distal part about 75 long, basal swollen part about 45 long. Idiosoma 280 long and 425 wide. Dorsum with 13 pairs of setae. Anterior group of 4 setae, about 20 long; lateral group of 3 or 4 setae, about 20 long. Dorso-median setae represented by 2 pairs: dm1 and dm2, 25–30 long. Peripheral series represented by 6 pairs: 3 pairs apically expanded and situated postero-laterally, 1 pair tapered and situated laterally and 2 pairs apically expanded and inserted ventrally. Eyes present. Venter as in female. Genital slit situated ventrally. Genital series resented by 2 pairs of minute spine-like setae g1 and g2. Pseudanal series represented by 3 pairs of serrate setae ps1–ps3. Legs as in female.
Type material (not examined). Holotype from Laudakia tuberculata (Gray) (Sauria: Agamidae ) from Central Nepal.
Type material deposition. All type material deposited in the NHM is lost (Janet Beccaloni, personal communication) .
Non-type material (examined). Eight females from Laudakia tuberculata ( ZSM no.116/1977/1) [tail, hindlegs], INDIA: Himachal Pradesh state, Manali (1800 m.a.s.l), 28 July 1977, coll. Gruber; 1 female ( NHM no. 1966 2.22.263) from Paralaudakia himalayana (Steindachner) (Sauria: Agamidae ) ( NHM no. 1953.1.6.7), INDIA: Kullu district, Katrain, Punjab, 6 January 1953, coll. A. E. Schelpe; 2 females ( NHM no. 1966.2.22.258–260) from same host species ( NHM no. 1904.12.28.5), TIBET: Chaksatem, Tsangpo, 28 December 1904, coll. H. J. Walter.
Hosts and distribution. This species is known from Laudakia tuberculata from Nepal, India [Kullu district, Katrain, Punjab; Kumaon division] ( Jack 1962a) and Paralaudakia himalayana from Tibet [Chaksatem, Tsangpo] and India [Kullu district, Katrain, Punjab] ( Jack 1962b).
Remarks. This species redescription shows that 9–16 pairs of the peripheral setae are present and setae dm1 and dm2 have barely discernible serration vs. 16–20 pairs of the peripheral setae are present and setae dm1 and dm2 are smooth according to Jack (1962a).
The neotype is not designated for this species because the specimens are not taken from type locality (see Article 75.3.6 of the ICZN 1999, 2012).
