Amerodectes currently includes 40 described species from representatives of 10 passerine families (eight Oscines: Fringillidae View in CoL , Thraupidae View in CoL , Icteridae View in CoL , Mimidae View in CoL , Parulidae View in CoL , Passerellidae View in CoL , Troglodytidae View in CoL , Turdidae View in CoL ; and two Suboscines: Furnariidae View in CoL and Tyrannidae View in CoL ) ( Mironov and Galloway 2021). In Brazil, 12 Amerodectes species have been reported: A. bilineatus ( Berla, 1958) , A. geothlypis ( Berla, 1973) , A. gracilis ( Trouessart, 1885) , A. longifuscus Hernandes and Pedroso, 2016 , A. maculatus ( Černý, 1974) , A. molothrus ( Mironov, 2008) , A. nordestensis ( Berla, 1958) , A. paroariae ( Mironov, 2008) , A. storkani ( Černý, 1974) , A. tangarae ( Mironov, 2008) , A. thraupicola ( Černý, 1974) and A. turdinus ( Berla, 1959) ( Trouessart 1885; Berla 1958, 1959, 1973; Černy 1974; Valim and Hernandes 2006; Mironov et al. 2008; Valim and Hernandes 2008, 2010; Hernandes et al. 2016; Hernandes and Flechtmann 2020).
