43. Leptotrombidium kinabalui sp. nov.

Leptotrombidium (Leptotrombidium) bodense var. kinabalui Vercammen-Grandjean and Langston, 1976: 348 , pl. 62.

Diagnosis. SIF = 7B-B-2-2111.0000; fPp = N/N/BNN; Pc = 2; Gn = 2; fSc: AM> PL> AL; SB/PL; fCx = 1.1.1; fSt = 2.2; fD = 2H-8-6-6-4-2; DS = 28; VS = 20–26; NDV = 48–54; Ip = 758–828; AW 66–77, PW 76–86, SB 30– 35, ASB 31–35, PSB 12–17, SD 44–49, AP 29–34, AM 59–72, AL 44–56, PL 57–67, S 82–102, H 58–69, D min 51– 65, D max 54–66, V min 35–46, V max 50–65, pa 265–290, pm 222–248, pp 266–290. Eyes 2 + 2. Ratio PW/AP = 2.5. SB 2–4 µm anterior to level of PLs. Dorsal idiosomal setae moderately covered with 4 rows of barbs (barbed tetrapectinala). Flagelliform sensilla with small cilia in proximal half and 21 long branches in distal half ( Vercammen-Grandjean & Langston 1976).

Type material (not examined). Holotype larva (L: 81572/b) from Dendrogale melanura (Thomas) , MALAYSIA: Sabah State, Kinabalu Mt, 18 December 1965. Paratypes: 76 larvae from D. melanura , Hylomys suillus Müller , Tupaia montana Thomas , Crocidura foetida doriae Peters , Dremomys everetti (Thomas) , Sundasciurus lowii (Thomas) , Callosciurus nigrovittatus (Horsfield) , Chiropodomys sp. , Rattus baluensis (Thomas) , Leopoldamys sabanus (Thomas) , Rattus exulans (Peale) , Paguma larvata (C. E. H. Smith) , and Hemigalus derbyanus (Gray) , MALAYSIA: Sabah State, July–August 1953 and 16–18 December 1965, coll. R. Traub and IMR staff. Type series is deposited in IMR.

Etymology. Species epithet refers to the type locality (Kinabalu Mt).
