Type locality: la Mer Rouge .

Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 2 syntypes MHNG INVE 51712 (ex MHNG 1098/14 ) (figured herein, Fig. 7A – B View FIGURE 7 ); 1098/14/1: 136 mm; 1098/14/2 : 52.4 mm. Size of one of the specimens matches Lamarck’s description. Kiener may have illustrated one of Lamarck’s specimens but the pattern and color do not perfectly match the illustration. Locality on the label: Mer Rouge.

Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained three specimens.

Current taxonomic position: Fusinus multicarinatus ( Lamarck, 1822) ; placed in Fusinus by Hadorn (1996): 29. Locality is Somalia.
