Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 3 probable syntypes MHNG INVE 51699 (ex MHNG 1098 /1) (figured herein, Fig. 1A – C ); 1098/1/1: 99.5 x 56 mm ( Lamarck 1816: pl. 430, fig. 1;? Kiener, pl. 7); 1098/1/2: 62.7 x 34.5 mm; 1098/1/3: 42.0 x 21.0 mm. Locality on the label:? Australie ou Amérique Centrale .

Current taxonomic position: Pleuroploca aurantiaca ( Lamarck, 1816) ; placed in Pleuroploca by Kaicher (1978): card no. 1764. Locality is northern South America and southern Caribbean.
