Type locality: habite les mers de la Nouvelle - Hollande.

Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 2 syntypes MHNG INVE 51727 (ex MHNG 1098/29/1-2 ) (figured herein, Fig. 6A – B ), 78 x 38 mm and 77.5 x 38 mm. Locality on the label: Australie .

Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained three specimens. The stated size was 2 pouces 11 lignes, equivalent to 79 mm.

Current taxonomic position: Latirus gibbulus ( Gmelin, 1791) ; placed in synonymy with Latirus gibbulus by Reeve (1847): explanation of pl. 7, fig. 36. Locality is tropical Indo-Pacific.
