Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: holotype MHNG INVE 51703 (ex MHNG 1098/5 ) (figured herein, Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ), 38.3 x 19 mm. Locality on the label: Tarente, Méditerranée .

Current taxonomic position: Tarantinaea lignarius ( Linnaeus, 1758) : placed in synonymy with Tarantinaea lignaria [sic] by Philippi (1844): 177. Locality is Mediterranean Sea.
