Locality of Lamarck’s material: l’Océan des grandes Indes.

Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 1 specimen MHNG INVE 51705 (ex MHNG 1098/7 ), 17 cm. The specimen does not seem to be the one figured in (1816) (stated as pl. 424, fig. 4, a caption error). It probably is the one figured by Kiener. Locality on the label: Océan Indien .

Remarks: according to Rosalie de Lamarck, two specimens were originally in her father’s collection.

Current taxonomic position: Fusinus colus ( Linnaeus, 1758) ; type species of Fusus Bruguière, 1789 , renamed Fusinus Rafinesque, 1815 . Locality is central Pacific, westwards.
