Other material studied: 1 ♂ without antenna, ASSAM, Rég. de Shillong [the locality of Shillong is now placed in the Meghalaya state] / MUSEUM PARIS, 1952, Coll. R. Description: Holotype, ♂: body length (head to apex of elytra), 21 mm; widest elytral width, 9 mm; elytral length, 12 mm; pronotal length, 2 mm; pronotal width, 5 mm; antennal length, 20 mm.

Male ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 A-B, D-G): Body slightly shiny, mostly brown, under side dark brown; antennal segments yellowish brown with apex of segments darker; elytra from yellowish brown to dark brown, paler towards apex; legs, pronotum, head dark brown.

Head: Glabrous, with deep punctures, major portion of head covered by the eyes and antennal tubercles; mandibles deeply punctured; frons densely punctured, narrow, anteriorly with golden setae. Vertex narrower between eyes and antennal tubercles, densely punctured, distance between upper eye lobes equal to length of pedicel. Eyes large, undivided, facets golden brown; genae very short; gulamentum depressed, not distinctly wide, with sparse, fine rugosities.

Antennae: Slightly shorter than body, eleven-segmented, flat; scape and pedicel deeply punctured, base narrowed, slightly widened toward apex, darker than other segments, shiny, with very fine golden setae; antennomeres III–XI longitudinally striated, more distinctly on outer surface, and inner surface more prominent from V to X; antennomere III longest, shiny at base; antennomeres III–X with inner margin acute, spine-shaped; antennomeres IV–X slightly rough on higher magnification, antennomeres gradually shorter in size towards apex of antennae, except antennomere XI which is longer than antennomere X.

Pronotum: Finely granulated, background of surface between granules covered by fine punctation; middle of disk slightly depressed, shiny; sides somewhat tumid. Margins with sparse, long golden setae; middle of lateral margin with well developed spine; just beneath lateral margin and spine there is semi rounded mark. Anterolateral margin wider and rounded than lateral part behind spine; posterolateral margins convergent. Posterior margin strongly sinuous; anterior margin weekly curved.

Elytra: Shiny, dark brown at base and paler towards apex, parallel-sided, not pubescent, apex rounded. Lateral margin fine, with short setae. Surface moderately punctured, punctures deep at basal fourth, becoming finer towards apex, distance between punctures much greater than their diameters. Each elytron with four primary costae: innermost from near base to posterior fifth, nearly straight, oblique towards suture, connected with the second one apically by transverse costa; third one smaller, poorly elevated, starting before middle of elytron, extending little more than innermost costae, and became nearly indistinct, connected with second, but not very prominent; fourth and second almost reaching elytral apex, connected between them apically. Costae are sparsely connected by some short cross vein, which has given rough impression to the elytra. Scutellum tongue-shaped, dark color, coarsely granulated, covered with sparse golden setae.

Ventral side: Prosternal process elongated, shiny, curved and rounded at apex, with small tubercles throughout. Mesoventral process tongue-shaped covered with long, sparse setae, depressed at middle, with small tubercle. Metaventrite slightly raised, faintly tuberculate, shiny, covered with slightly dense, long golden setae. Abdomen sparsely covered with golden setae, which are shorter than those on metaventrite, not punctured.

Legs: Densely covered with golden setae; femur flattened, sulcate ventrally; profemur and tibia equal in length; mesotibia slightly longer than mesofemur, and hind tibia longer than hind femur; joints of femur and tibia darker.

Male genitalia ( Fig 2 View FIGURE 2 ): Median struts 1.6 times longer than median lobe; medial part slightly longer than tegmen; apex of median struts close to each other; apex of median lobe distinctly projected and long, centrally pointed. Ring portion of tegmen converging, V-shaped, not elongated at tip. Lobes of parameres long, very close to each other, covered with long and dense setae. Internal sac tube shaped, elongated with small plate-shaped wrinkle structure.

Female ( Fig 1C View FIGURE 1 ): Body from orange brown to red brown; antennae yellowish brown; dorsal part of body almost glabrous, except fine pubescence on pronotum, scutellum and legs; pubescence of ventral side with relatively dense and long yellowish setae (especially on metaventrite).

Antennae: 11-segmented, reaching about four-fifth of body length; segments similar those in males but more elongate and more slender; scape with smaller and sparser punctures; scape and antennomeres III–X with distinct black margin at apex. Pedicel and antennomere XI uniformly yellowish brown; antennomere III shiny, finely and closely punctured; antennomere IV shiny at basal third and on internal side, the rest being covered with ridges and with poriferous punctures; antennomeres V–XI with ridges and poriferous punctures; inner apical teeth of antennomere III–X less developed, as well as the one on outer apical angle.

Pronotum: Granulated, with posterior margin nearly straight; lateral spines located at middle, a little smaller than in male, acute and straight; anterior and posterior angles slightly marked.

Elytra: More elongate, about 2.5 times as long as wide (humeral width), more matte, covered by well defined punctures decreasing in side from base to apex (punctures separated from each other by network of very fine puncture visible at binocular at 250 X magnification), with developed costae (especially costae 1, 2 and 4), which are more visible and marked than in males.

Ventral side: Almost similar as in males; legs more elongate and slender.
