Exochomoscirtes bimaculatus Pic, 1916: 7
( Figs. 10A View FIGURE 10 , 11A View FIGURE 11 , 15 View FIGURE 15 )
Type material. Holotype, female ( MNHN): “…[Java?, illegibly written] / Wallace” [printed & handwritten label]; “type” [yellow label, handwritten by Pic ]; “ Exochomoscirtes / bimaculatus Pic ” [blue label, handwritten].
Diagnosis. Similar to E. bipustulatus (Champion) , but distinctly smaller (TL of E. bipustulatus 4.95) and with distinct prehensor. Slightly resembles E. basipunctatus sp. nov., but has smaller and not elongated body.
Redescription. Holotype, female. Body hemispherical, TL/EW 1.21, very convex, covered with yellowish suberect setae. Head and pronotum brownish-black, elytra brownish-black, each with large oval macula in anterior half extending to anterior margin. Mouthparts, antennae and legs brown.
Head covered with dense punctures, separated by 0.5–1.0 diameter. Eyes big, moderately protuberant; head 1.8 X wider than interocular space. Antennae filiform, antennomere 1 subcylindrical, antennomere 2 and 3 subequal in length, antennomeres 4–7 1.5 X longer than antennomere 3. Antennomeres 8–11 absent in the holotype. Palpomeres of maxillary palpi very wide.
Pronotum slightly convex, covered with dense punctation, punctures separated by ca. 1.0 diameter, anterolateral corners projecting anteriorly, somewhat obtuse; lateral margins straight; posterolateral corners acute; base of pronotum subtrapezoidal, with complete groove along basal margin; PW/PL 3.4. Scutellum punctured as on pronotum, equilaterally triangular. Angle between pronotum and elytra not marked in dorsal outline.
Elytra broadly oval, without traces of longitudinal ridges, with explanate lateral margins, widest in the middle, punctation stronger than on pronotum, distance between punctures ca. 0.5–1.0 diameter; humeri well marked; EL/EW 1.1; EL/PL 4.6; EW/PW 1.3.
Legs moderately long. Hind tibial spurs well developed, the longer spur is almost straight, almost as long as tarsomere 1, shorter spur slightly curved, as long as 1/3 of the length of longer spur.
Ventrites 1 and 2 with sparse setation in mesal portions, ventrite 2 with basal row of big punctures. Apex of tergite 7 unmodified. Apex of ventrite 5 truncate.
Female genitalia. Prehensor short (L 0.48) and relatively wide, bursal sclerite well developed, duct connecting prehensor with bursal sclerite wide, accordion-folded.
Male unknown.
Measurements. Female (n = 1): TL 3.75, PL 0.70, PW 2.40, EL 3.25, EW 3.10.
Distribution. Java (according to the original description).
