Diagnosis. Dorsal pattern consisting of several brownish black square-like maculae allows the differentiation of this species from other members of the genus.

Redescription. Holotype, male. Body oval, TL/EW 1.3, slightly flattened, covered with yellowish and black (present only on black elytral cuticle) setae. Head, pronotum and scutellum yellowish-orange, elytra yellow with brownish-black pattern consisting of two lateral spots, and two adscutellar spots on each elytron. Spots usually fused into two larger maculae: larger, C-shaped in anterior portion of elytra, and smaller, Vshaped in apical portion of elytra. Mouthparts, legs and ventrum yellowish. Antennae yellow, slightly darkening apically.

Head with distinct punctation, punctures separated by ca. 1.0–1.5 diameter. Eyes moderately big, not protuberant; head 2.0 X wider than interocular space. Antennae filiform. Antennomere 1 subcylindrical, wide, antennomere 2 and 3 of subequal lengths, antennomeres 4–11 slightly shorter than antennomeres 2 and 3 combined [antennomeres 5–11 absent in the holotype; redescription partly based on study of additional specimens]. Palpomeres of maxillary palpi moderately widened.

Pronotum slightly convex, covered with distinct punctation, similar to that on head, separated by ca. 1.0 (rarely 2.0) diameters, anterolateral corners obtuse, slightly projecting anteriorly; lateral margins subtly rounded; posterolateral corners acute; base of pronotum bisinuate, with complete margination along basal margin; PW/PL 2.9. Scutellum punctured as on pronotum, equilaterally triangular. Angle between pronotum and elytra not marked in dorsal outline.

Elytra oval, lateral margins not explanate, widest at the middle, punctation stronger than on pronotum, punctures separated by ca. 1.0 diameter; humeri well marked; EL/EW 1.1; EL/PL 4.5; EW/PW 1.5.

Legs moderately long. Hind tibial spurs well developed, dorsal one almost straight, unmodified, as long as tarsomere 1, and twice as long as ventral one; ventral spur slightly curved.

Ventrite 1 with sparse setation in mesal portion, ventrite 2 with basal row of big punctures. Apex of tergite 7 unmodified. Apex of ventrite 5 deeply emarginated.

Sternite 9 (L 0.43, W 0.31) elongated, consisting of two subtriangular hemisternites, with short and sparse setae on apical margin, mesal portion with V-shaped sclerite. Tergite 8 (L 0.59, W 0.33) moderately sclerotized, apical portion subtrapezoidal, bearing long setae on apical margin, apodemes moderately long, slightly diverging basally; tergite 9 (L 0.47, W 0.34) small, moderately sclerotized, with very narrow apical portion and minute setae at apex, with a pair of moderately long apodemes, strongly diverging basally, fused anteriorly. Tegmen (L 0.57, W 0.31) large, well sclerotized, parameres regularly curved, slightly widening till apices, apices with denticles, mesal process relatively wide, very short. Penis (L 0.48, W 0.09) very long, apical process longer than pala.

Female unknown.

Variability. TL/EW 1.3–1.4 (1.3). Elytral pattern only slightly variable – sometimes the dark pattern covers a larger portion of the elytra and the maculae are more rounded. The color of the pronotum and scutellum is either yellowish-orange (darker than elytra) or brown.

Measurements. Males (n = 6): TL 2.20–3.00 (2.63), PL 0.40–0.55 (0.49), PW 1.15–1.58 (1.35), EL 1.95– 2.60 (2.28), EW 1.63–2.33 (1.98).

Distribution. W India, E Nepal.
