Range: —Eastern Andean slope from Ecuador to Bolivia (CO, LP).

Ecology: —Common; terrestrial and on fallen trunks, rarely epiphytic (mostly on trunk bases or thick, horizontal branches) in humid forests, mostly in low, fairly open forests with shallow soils such as on ridges and steep slopes where it may form dense colonies ( Jones et al. 2011); unlike many other species of the genus often found fertile; (1000–)1750–2400(–2800) m.

Notes: —In some specimens, the stomata are black and can be mistaken for glandular dots.
