Range: —Hispaniola; Mexico to Costa Rica; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (BE, LP).

Ecology: —Uncommon; epiphytic in humid forests; 800–2250 m.

Notes: —Closely resembles E. paleaceum and allies, but the rhizome scales are orange to tan, not castaneous or black as usually found in this group.
