Range: — Mexico and Guatemala; Costa Rica; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP) and northern Chile.

Ecology: —Uncommon, probably overlooked; terrestrial in grasslands, open scrub, and along roadsides; in humid and semihumid habitats; (2400–) 3000–4500 m.
