Olfersia Raddi, Opusc. Sci. View in CoL 3: 283, t. 11, f. b. 1819.

Olfersia View in CoL is easily recognized by the 1-pinnate blades, each with a conform apical pinna; asymmetrical pinna bases; free, parallel veins united at their tips into a commissural vein; and sterile-fertile leaf dimorphism. The fertile leaves are 2-pinnate, with pectinately arranged pinnules. Olfersia View in CoL is related to, and sometimes included in, Polybotrya View in CoL , but that genus has a different rhizome anatomy, lacks the parallel venation of Olfersia View in CoL , and has pinnatifid blade apices. Phylogenetic study has shown that Olfersia View in CoL is most closely related to two neotropical species currently classified in Arachniodes ( Moran & Labiak 2015) View in CoL . A neotropical genus of two species ( Moran 1986, Sánchez et al. 1991).
