Type locality. Coast of Turkey, Izmir, Çesme Peninsula, Ildiri Bay, 38°25'N 26°25'E, on net of tuna fish cage, 15 m depth, leg. M. Özaydinli, 19. July 2010; ZMB 27928.

Additional material studied. 1 male, 10.3 mm, Dar es Salaam, on Pennaria sp., leg. Presuhn, Jan. 1905, ZMB 13245.

Etymology. Named for Assist. Prof. Dr. Kemal Can Bizsel, the academic advisor of the senior author to thank him for introducing him into the wonderful world of marine science.

Description. Based on male holotype. Male. 10.5 mm and female allotype, 12 mm.

Head. Antenna 1 subequal in length to antenna 2; peduncular article 1 1.1 x article 2; article 2 2.4 x article 3; article 3 0.4 x article 1; accessory flagellum absent. Antenna 2 robust, distinctly stouter than antenna 1; peduncle articles 3 to 5 moderately setose on ventral margin; peduncle article 4 subequal in length to article 5; flagellum longer than peduncular article 5. Labrum directed nearly straight down, around 90 degrees, lateral margins without midlateral notches. Mandible molar well developed, triturating, accessory setal row with 5 robust setae; palp 3-articulate, apically and marginally setose; article 1 ¼ of article 2; article 2 1.05 x article 3, article 3 3.3 x as long as wide, article 3 3.3 x article 1. Lower lip outer plates notched, forming a medial excavation, lateral lobe distinctly longer than medial lobe, without an apical nipple; mandibular lobe with curved margins, subacute apically. Maxilla 1 inner plate with 6 slender setae; palp well developed, with apical robust setae. Maxilla 2 inner plate narrower than outer plate. Maxilliped outer plate with developed row of large robust setae along medial margin, palp article 3 medially expanded.

Pereon. Coxae 1 to 4 longer than broad. Gnathopod 1 sexually dimorphic, smaller than gnathopod 2, without densely setose margins; coxa distinctly larger than coxa 2, broader than deep, anteroventral corner produced, anterior margin straight, anteroventral corner rounded, with a row of very short and hair-like slender setae of varying lengths, not plumose; basis subequal in length to coxa, posterior margin without setae, lateral face with anterodistal rounded lobe, without setae; ischium anterior margin with large rounded lobe; merus anterodistal lobe acute, posterodistal corner acutely produced; carpus 1.2 x longer than broad, longer than merus, 0.8 x shorter than propodus, carpus lobe absent, but posterodistal margin produced, anterior margin with more than 3 robust setae, posterior margin straight; propodus relatively narrow, length 1.7 x width, subrectangular; palm oblique, sinusoidal, without midmedial tooth, with obtuse palmar corner, with 1 robust seta defining palm; dactylus overreaching palm, inner margin serrate. Gnathopod 2 sexually dimorphic, with long, simple setae on margins, coxa without long, plumose setal fringe on ventral margin, with a row of small setules along ventral margin; basis longer than coxa, with sparse slender setae, anterodistal lobe present, very large and rounded, reaching beyond ischium; ischium anterior margin with large circular lobe; merus margin with long, acute anterodistal corner; carpus shorter than propodus (0.7 x length), subtriangular, anterior margin with few slender setae; propodus narrow, length 1.7 x width, subrectangular, produced into an anterodistally setose lobe; palm excavate, without proximal or midmedial tooth, with posterodistal defining tooth, length 2 x breadth, apically subacute, without palm defining robust setae; dactylus overreaching palm, tapering evenly, apically acute, dactylus without unguis, inner margin serrate. Pereopod 3 basis expanded; merus distally weaky expanded; carpus about 1.5 x as long as broad. Pereopod 4 basis similar to pereopod 3. Pereopods 5–7 not prehensile. Pereopod 5 basis without medial slender setae; merus subrectangular; propodus not expanded distally, subrectangular, with 3–4 distal robust setae, defining robust setae simple; dactylus slightly curved. Pereopod 6 basis posterior margin rounded, without marginal robust setae, without medial slender setae; merus subrectangular; propodus not expanded, subrectangular, 5 distal simple robust setae; dactylus strongly curved. Pereopod 7 similar to pereopod 6; basis without marginal robust setae, without medial slender setae; propodus not expanded, subrectangular, with 3–5 simple robust setae.

Pleon. Epimeron 1–3 posteroventral corner broadly rounded. Uropod 1 reaching end of uropod 2 rami. Uropod 1 peduncle with more than 5 robust setae, with short slender setal fringe (less than 0.5 x length of peduncle), distoventral spur vestigial or absent; inner ramus subequal in length to outer ramus, with more than 5 marginal robust setae, slender setae absent; outer ramus slender, length about 5– 6 x as long as broad, with more than 5 marginal robust setae, slender setae absent. Uropod 2 peduncle without distolateral projection, with 3–5 robust setae, slender setae fringe absent; inner ramus longer than outer ramus, with more than 5 marginal robust setae, slender setae absent; outer ramus with more than 5 marginal robust setae, slender setae absent. Uropod 3 peduncle length 1.7 x breadth, 2.5 x rami length, without marginal robust setae, marginal slender setae present, with 5 distal peduncular robust setae, with 2–5 distal robust setae, with 3–5 distal slender setae; rami short, less than twice as long as broad; outer ramus subequal in length to inner ramus, with 2 large recurved distal robust setae, without apical accessory spines, without patch of small lateral denticles, without lateral setal fringe; inner ramus with 3 distal robust setae; with more than 5 distal slender setae, inner ramus without lateral robust setae. Telson subtrapezoidal, apically truncated or weakly rounded, without apical cusps, with 2 pairs of lateral setae, 1 pair of disto-lateral plumose setae, 1 pair of apical setae; denticles absent.

Distribution. West coast of Turkey (this study); east coast of Africa (this study), Tansania ( Schellenberg 1928).
