Diagnosis
Frons without formation of interocular tubercles. Clypeal carina extending to the midfrontal region and meeting in the central region. Pronotum mesoanteriorly without evident structures and without median groove ( Figure 4 View Figure 4 (e)).
Type material. The paratype is deposited at the MZSP, which provided a photo for analysis.
Paratype. ‘ Riberão Prêto / (Fac. Medicina)/ xi .1954/ Barreto col .; Coleão / M . P: Barreto / 1969’ ( MZUSP) .
Redescription
Body size: Length: 5.27–7.88 mm. Width: 4.08–6.24 mm. Head: Clypeal carina extending to the mid-frontal region and meeting in the central region. Frons flat without tubercles; region between the lateral carinae of the clypeus with strong and evident punctuation, other parts with weak punctuation, almost imperceptible. Pronotum: Without evident structures and without median groove; surface with sparse points, unevenly distributed. Ventral region of the thorax: Prosternum presents a median longitudinal projection to the posterior margin. Male terminalia: In dorsal view, non-differentiated parameres of the phallobase ( Figure 9 View Figure 9 (g)); phallobase with two pointed projections, one on each side, morphologically resembling the genitalia of Bolbapium sulcifrons and Bolbapium lucidulum , differing from other species that have a single central projection. Sexual dimorphism: This species does not feature sexual dimorphism.
Differential diagnosis. Bolbapium paralucidulum is morphologically similar to B. lucidulum , B. matheusi sp. nov., B. quinquestriatum and B. sulcifrons in not presenting the forehead with tubercles and interocular carinae. However, it is easily differentiated by presenting the curved carinae in the median region of the forehead.
Geographical distribution. Brazil (Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo), Argentina (Buenos Aires and Misiones) and Paraguay (Caazapa) .
Non-type material. 25 specimens.
