M a t e r i a l. One angular, EUNHM PV-13237,
Hamamkarahisar A, early Pliocene, MN 14.
D e s c r i p t i o n. The angular is slightly S-shaped and lacks the anterior and posterior sections. The coronoid process is nearly rectangular and smooth dorsally (without rugosity). The groove for Meckel’s cartilage is approximately equally widened anteriorly and posteriorly. The crista mandibulae externa is relatively low.
R e m a r k s. The described angular differs from those assigned to Pelophylax sp. (see above) in having a smooth rectangular coronoid process. The poor osteological characteristics of the extant species prevent identification of the material to the genus-level.
