Hyalopeplini Carvalho 1952: 133 (as new tribe); Carvalho & Gross 1979: 431 (diagnosis); Schwartz 1987: 46 – 47 (diagnosis in PhD); Schuh 1995: 674 – 682 (catalog), 2002 – 2013 (online catalog) [type genus: Hyalopeplus Stål, 1871 View in CoL by original designation].

Diagnosis. Mirinae with glassy and transparent hemelytra, having reduced or even absent veins, frequently smooth, a line of deep and wide punctures being present in numerous genera along claval and embolio-corial sutures, the membranous wings and abdomen easily visible in dorsal view at least under the endocorium. Evaporative area large, reaching “dorsad of ventral margin of mesepimeron” ( Schwartz, 1987: 47). Dorsal surface generally rugose.
